 BAUER, a world leader in the field of high pressure compressor systems, is in search of an industrial Painter to join its Norfolk, VA based manufacturing facility.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

Include the following, but other duties may be assigned.

• Reads, interprets and applies paint specifications to fabricated parts.
• Turns valves and observes gauges to set pressure and to control flow of paint to each spray station.
• Re-adjusts pressure valves to control direction and pattern of spray and to correct flaws in coating.
• Mixes paint according to specifications with viscometer to regulate consistency according to changes in atmospheric conditions.
• Adjusts thermostat to maintain specified temperature in paint tanks and oven.
• Inspects painted units for runs, sags, unpainted areas, and weld splatter.
• Takes coating thickness readings and records data to comply with operational standards.
• Follows directions and possesses the ability to work independently.
• Communicates effectively to their immediate supervisor the status of needed parts or supplies to paint parts.
• Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated.
• Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent.
• Provides paint touch up to finished units by either hard brush or air equipment.
• Has a working knowledge of Workmanship Standards as well as the ISO quality system. Utilizes these practices in their everyday activity.
• Able to use any specialized tooling that is required in their respective area. Will complete any necessary certifications required to do so.
• Works at different workstations as production needs require.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or GED.
• Six to nine months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Reads and interprets all measuring devises needed for producing specified paint coatings.
• Ability to read blueprints and operate hand, air and power tools.
• Ability to operate an overhead or jib crane and a powered fork truck.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

Work conditions may include elevated noise levels requiring hearing protection and extreme temperatures, both high and low.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee may be required to wear safety glasses, hearing protection, a respirator, and/or a dust mask depending upon the nature of the work performed.

Regular work hours are Monday through Thursday 6:00am to 4:30pm.  Occasional overtime and weekend hours will be required.
